India Day 7 & Day 8: Last day at Delhi & Farewell

Finally the final stretch of India returning back to Delhi from Jaipur with train 12985 from 7am to 10am. Took a tuk tuk for Rs100 to go directly to YMCA for a night which cost Rs1925 with breakfast. The room in YMCA is below average but it is near Connaught Place where all the café and fast food is located.

My target attraction is Humayun Tomb where it can be reach by Delhi Metro at Stadium station. Tuk tuk cost around Rs50 per way to the station. Humayun Tomb is a great site with lots of restoration work and it is still actively working on the restoration. It is definitely worth the visit to all this world heritage sites which given the recognition.

The next attraction is Raj Ghat which is the Gandhi memorial. It is free entrance but really meaningful for Gandhi fans. Raj Ghat is really far from the metro station Indraparstha and it cost around Rs100 and above for a way.

The next day would be my final day before leaving back to KL. It is just a shopping day for souvenir at Dilli Haat and also relax with coffees around Connaught place. I personally wanted to try the Airport train and the tough part is the metro from Janpath to Delhi. Then the Airport link is quite easy with cost around Rs60 a way and it is so convenient from Delhi station. The whole journey took around 1 hour 15 min.

India Day 6: A day at Jaipur, Just for Jantar & Amber Fort

Took the tuk tuk service offer by Hotel Kalyan for Rs600 to visit Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar, Amber Fort, Water Palace & War Mesuem from 9:30am to 5pm. Take note: There is a single ticket Rs400 for all the entrance mention except city palace. Hawa Mahal is not interesting from inside but the main attraction is the architecture from outside where it has many hole for wind.

Jantar Mantar and Amber Fort is a must attraction to see during visit at Jaipur. Jantar Mantar is an astronomy site with WHS recognition where there are many instrument measuring the sun and calendar.

The journey to Amber Fort is fantastic as once I reach the foot hill of amber fort and the site is really awesome. The fort is built at the peak of the hill and it is an amazing fort of the Rajasthan Empire. Enjoy the beautiful Hill Fort at the peak of the fort.

After Amber Fort then we drop by water palace which it is not interesting and then the war museum is closed on Monday. So my day only filled with Jantar & Amber which already very satisfied.

India Day 5: Journey to Jaipur

Today is the train journey from Agra to Jaipur where the actual real experience of India train which is different from the route DELHI-AGRA. The train from AGRA-JAIPUR (14853) supposed to depart at 6:30am but it was delay until 1pm. It was a long and worry wait as it was my first experience as well. Once the train reach and there are no signage or reference at all but luckily manage to check with the station attendants and get into my 2AC seat to Jaipur.

Reach Jaipur at 5pm and tuk tuk directly sent me to Hotel Kalyan. Its cost around Rs1192 for a double bed.

Engage the tuk tuk to Hawa Mahal for photos and then to Monkey temple for the sunset. Monkey temple is a nice place to view the scenery of Jaipur with sunset but beware that the place is full of monkeys and there are guide that trying to threaten you for more guide fees at the peak and telling you that the monkeys will attack strangers.

India Day 4: Taj Mahal & Agra Fort

Today is a highlight of the golden triangle of India trip, the Taj Mahal. Taking my breakfast at 7am and then walk to the west gate at 8am. It is quite confusing getting to the west gate from some small alley but finally manage to reach the entrance. The entrance cost Rs750 and the price including the shoe sock which is compulsory to enter the mausoleum.

There are very tight security at Taj Mahal and beware not to take any sharp objects or weapon during the visit. I spend almost 3 hours just at every corner of the surrounding of Taj Mahal with photos and observation. Once you reach the foot of the building and always remember to follow the crowd to the right where it bring you to round the Taj before entering the Mausoleum on the left. Don’t forget to visit the Taj Museum where it explain the history of Taj Mahal which is really worth the time.

Taj Mahal is so beautiful build on solid marble by King Shah Jadan to remember his wife. It is a meaningful beautiful heritage architecture that I personally love very much.

After Taj Mahal, then exit from the west gate to continue to the journey of Agra Fort where there are many frequent tuk tuk that cost around Rs50 a way to the fort.

Agra Fort is another nice piece of architecture with full of the Mughal empire history. I didn’t engage any guide but I hire the audio guide for price Rs119 which I found it very useful and clear explanation of the history and better than the guide which may cost you easily Rs200.
